Text Mining Laboratory

Book

Minería de Textos para Investigadores Lingüistas (2024)

Dozens of books on text mining have been published over the past two decades. Most of these works tend to be aimed at students or researchers in computer science, and therefore their comprehension requires a solid grounding in mathematics and programming. By contrast, the few books that introduce this field to readers with limited experience in computer science adopt a very superficial approach in order to remain accessible, and are thus limited to providing a general overview of the field and its applications. Consequently, as they do not explain in sufficient detail the key issues underlying text mining, these books are of limited value to readers who, despite lacking technical training, wish to implement their own research experiments in this field. By contrast, Minería de Textos para Investigadores Lingüistas is aimed at postgraduate students and researchers whose primary background lies in the humanities or social sciences in general, and in linguistics in particular. Unlike other books, this monograph seeks to equip such readers with both theoretical and practical knowledge of the main aspects required for experimentation in text mining, minimising discussion of mathematical models while providing a rigorous interdisciplinary perspective that enables them to enrich their research. The theory presented in Minería de Textos para Investigadores Lingüistas can be applied to practical cases quickly and easily using TexMiLAB.
